I definitely like the look/feel of Diablo 2 more than 3. That said, the issues plaguing online queues and connectivity are worth noting a big chunk of the real value of D2 is in multiplayer, and it's been iffy at best over the last several weeks. Imo for nostalgia / playing with other OGs, the visuals and playability on new machines is totally worth it it's a rare case where it looks / feels the same, yet the cinematics and visual quality are in line with modern hardware and doesn't feel like a clunky old game, rather it feels like it did when it was new, brought back to life. There's some value in its simplicity though and once you finish Hell you're basically 'done', not like there are achievements / etc other than ladder or Hardcore mode, but casual folks aren't going to be into that. Hard to say if it's worth it for younger folks who started in D3, as all the mechanics probably feel like steps backwards, so it's more of a 'I always wanted to play through the story' to better understand the lore for others. Really offline solo is all I'm doing, but then it's major nostalgic value for anyone who played D1/2 when they were current Don't have old friends playing it currently, but we'll totally do private games when ppl decide to jump in. and its a one-time purchase so you can't go wrong IMO Singleplayer is the best way to play for someone like you who wants to go at their own pace. It is primarily a pvm game after all, with even the most hardcore pvp'ers needing to pvm for 99.9% of their playtime since the pvp is 95% gear-based and has very little to do with actual skill Of course its worth it lol, d2 is awesome, and you can play however you want. Some try to do a 'holy grail' in SP and find every item/rune in the game Some play to do challenge builds with their own implemented rulesets to artificially give the game 'more content' Some play to get rich in MP by trading, doing services, farming endlessly Some like to beat the game on many different builds (~30+ options) Some literally dont care about gear and just speedrun new chars over and over then delete them Some play to perfect their gear in nonladder softcore over many months'/years' time Not really interested in the grind for better gear like many Diablo fans you know.
